World Meeting of Families 2018 Dublin


Day 1 New York area

We depart on our overnight international flight. Enjoy dinner and breakfast served aboard flight.

Day 2 Welcome to Ireland

Arrive at Shannon airport, where our representative will meet the group and assist with boarding the motor coach. We begin our journey by first visiting the Cliffs of Moher before continuing to Galway via the Burren Region. A panoramic tour of Galway City is a delight with its narrow streets, old stone and wooden shop fronts. Enjoy a cruise on Lough Corrib. Continue to your hotel in Westport. Overnight, dinner, bed & breakfast at your hotel in Westport or surrounding area.

Day 3 Knock/Ballintubber/Westport

This morning depart Westport for Ballintubber Abbey built in 1216. Ballintubber Abbey is the only church in Ireland that was founded by an Irish King and still in use today. Continue to Knock, an important pilgrimage site. On the 21st August 1879, Our Lady, St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist appeared at the south gable of Knock Parish Church. Return to your hotel in Westport area for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Westport/Limerick

Today you will depart your hotel in and travel to Limerick. En route visit Rathbaun Farm and enjoy tea & scones. Travel through the Burren Region.Limerick is a major city set in the Munster province. Its compact old town is known for the medieval-era St. Mary's Cathedral and St. John's square, which is lined with Georgian townhouses. Standing along the River Shannon, the 13th-century King John's Castle is one of the city's most recognizable sites. Check into your hotel. Overnight, dinner, and breakfast at your hotel in Limerick or surrounding area.

Day 5 Limerick/Carlow

Today we first visit the Rock of Cashel with the impressive religious monuments-most notably the Romanesque Cormec's Chapel that was built in the late 12th century which features complex arches and amazingly intricate designs. Outside the church, in the surrounding graveyard, classic Celtic high crosses dot the grassy landscape and a round tower built in 1101. Visit Kilkenny Castle before continuing to your hotel in the Dublin area. Overnight, dinner, breakfast at your hotel in Dublin or surrounding area.

Day 6 Dublin

This morning enjoy a panoramic tour of Dublin: Trinity College, the Book of Kells, St. Patrick's Cathedral, the National Cathedral of Ireland and the National Museum on Kildare Street. The Kildare Street site is home to artifacts from Viking times alongside Celtic masterpieces and houses one of the largest collections of Bronze Age gold in the world. This evening, attend the Festival of Families concert. Transfer back to your hotel. Overnight, dinner, breakfast at your hotel in the Dublin area.

Day 7 Dublin

Today you will have the morning at leisure to walk around and experience this exciting city. This afternoon attend the Festival of Families ending with the closing mass. Special evening dinner and entertainment at the Abbey Tavern or Merry Ploughboy Pub. Transfer back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day: 8 Dublin/USA

After a final full Irish breakfast depart for Dublin Airport and your departure flight home. Arrive USA the same day.
